Logic Magician Not Working? Follow These TroubleShooting Steps to resolve!

Control + Escape will toggle Logic Magician on/off. If you turn on Logic Magician and it doesn’t turn on, or some of its features aren’t working, here are some Trouble shooting steps to go through.

1) If Logic Magician was working previously, and it doesn’t work after you restarted your computer, It’s probably because you did not enable the Keyboard Maestro engine to run at start up.

Open Keyboard Maestro and press command comma to go to it’s settings. VO Right to “the “Launch Engine at Login” checkbox”, and VO Space on it to check it. You can then close the settings window with Command W, and Quit Keyboard Maestro with Command Q.

Also along these lines, If you have a project that was created to installing and using Logic Magician, and you have followed all the Logic Magician Installation Steps, Including the settings you should change in Mac OS and change in Logic Pro, then you will need to right click with VO Shift M on the Control Bar in Logic, and select Apply defaults from the context menu. This changes the view in your old project to the Control Bar Layout that is optimized for Logic Magician to work fully. Save the project with Command S so that when it’s re-opened in the future it will be opened with the right Control Bar layout for Logic Magician.

2) Ensure the appropriate permissions are given to Keyboard Maestro in privacy and security in system settings.

Press VO + M to get to the apple menu, down arrow to System Settings and hit return to open it. Navigate to the sidebar with VO Right arrow and down arrow to Privacy And Security. Once you have Privacy and Security selected, VO Right to the Privacy and Security Scroll area and interact with it. VO Right to accessibility, and VO space on it to open it. Interact with the Accessibility Scroll area and in the table, ensure that both Keyboard Maestro and Keyboard Maestro engine are checked.

Press Command Left Bracket to go back to the previous list of Privacy And Security options, and navigate to and select Automation to open those options. Once again interact with the automation scroll area and in the table down arrow to Keyboard Maestro. If it’s collapsed, press the right arrow to expand it. Under Keyboard Maestro is VoiceOver and System Events, make sure both are checked.

Of course it could sometimes be as simple as VoiceOver not speaking the commands, so try Turning VoiceOver on /off with Command F5 or Command Triple press the power button/finger print reader on your Mac.

3) Also make sure quick Nav is off. Pressing the left and right arrows together will toggle quick nav off. By default it will say all quit nav on/off, but if you have it set up like I do, then you will want to use Left and Right arrows to toggle Arrow Key Quick Nav and VO Q to toggle Single key Quick Nav.

4) Another thing to be aware of, if you have any plug in or other windows open then yes focus will be away from the main Logic Window which Magician needs to have in focus for certain commands to work. Case in point if you have the Piano roll window open left/right arrows will select notes in the Piano Roll and not regions in the main window. If you have a plug in window open, solo, mute and speaking selected tracks with “T” may still work but some other commands for the main window may not.

You can always press VO F2 to hear which window is currently in focus and or press VO F2 twice to get a list of all open windows.

If you need to do something in the main window, you can Switch to it by selecting it from the menu you get when you press VO F2 twice, or just press Command Accent to switch to the main window and when you are done with what you want to do in the Main Window, press Command Accent to switch back.
